New painting

33weeks_lmmartin
I just finished a new painting – 33 weeks. This painting is oil on board, I did it very differently to how I have previously painted and enjoyed it immensely.

I’ve posted some of the developmental sketches and the beginnings of this painting: here.

What is different about this is it is from life and from memory. I did a sitting with the model and developed most of this painting with the sketches and my memory from that sitting. I took some photos for a buffer – but I in no way relied on the photographs like I have in previous works.

Face, tum & feed drawings

I have many sketch books that are filled up and I keep meaning to share them, but there are so many and I try to keep each post themed and then I just get overwhelmed or there is something else I have to tend to – Toddler, deadline, laundry – don’t forget to be social Lily.

Toddler has been demanding that I draw her lately.

“Mumma, draw me, draw me mumma, MUMMA DRAW ME!”

( FYI she is now sitting in my lap and we are fighting for the desk space.. Talk about multi tasking future employer poeple! )

Painting again!

I have been painting again.

I bought myself a table easel from a store that was suggested to me by my friend Leo Plaw. – Boesner’s – a supermarket of artists supplies. I was going to wait to see if I could find an easel at the market on Sunday but I got impatient, I needed to paint.

So I have three paintings on the go at the moment – being here is very inspiring.

Apart from the occasional sulks about missing friends, I am having a good time getting some work done and getting some perspective in life. I really enjoy what I do and I really enjoy being out of uni!

I think I love you Berlin.
