This one is done in pen and coloured digitally – I usually would use water colour, but I started drawing it on cartridge paper before realizing I wanted to colour it. I don’t really like to use that paper but hey – I’ve just moved country again..
Leaving Berlin, moving to Cardiff
Everything has been packed, posted, broken, thrown out and stored, we are pretty much ready to go.
I am stopping off in London next week, there is a Waterhouse exhibition on at The Royal Academy. – I’m really looking forward to it.

Potsdam, Germany
On a very, very hot day we went to visit Potsdam with a few friends. It was beautiful but I recommend a bike if you go there!

Paris
Paris is so so big and so so beautiful and so so overwhelming.
Gene and I made the ridiculous decision to catch the train from Berlin to Paris in the heat – we arrived sleep deprived and sticky.
Paris gets very hot1. We didn’t have the right clothes for the heat – I’m pretty sure we sweated out a few kilos! The food was amazing, the buildings were beautiful.
I’m a lucky duck.
Day of the Dead drawing completed!
I’ve been working on a commission for the new Grim Fandango’s gallery in Melbourne for a few weeks now and have finished it!
This drawing is done in pen and ink and is very different to my usual work. It was fun to make and thank you Matt for commissioning it!

In July 2009 Australian Artist Lily Mae Martin will be showing her first European exhibition ‘Mêlée’ in Berlin, Germany. Lily’s work draws on her recent journeys throughout Europe; from post-war Berlin to the hyper-sensitivity of security and terrorism in London. Lily portrays her subjects as confused, chaotic and frantically searching to grasp some form of control and stability within their world through her drawings and paintings.
BITE – new drawing
I took me three days to finish this drawing. While I was in the process a friend accidentally spilt a very lagre glass of water all over it. It’s a good thing I use thick paper to draw on, because it dried and there was nothing wrong with it.
PHEW.
